Chapter 5

They had no where to go, they hadn't thought that far yet. Bishamonten had given them the title of 'the chosen' but they doubt that any of the guards guarding the only way in and out would know.

"Uh...what should we do now?" Ijiro asked Asura in hopes of an idea.

"I guess we plan?"

"Uh...OK"

"How about we go back in? It's freezing out here" sure enough the temperature was freezing at this late of an hour.

"Definitely"

And so Ijiro and Asura took off their gear right after putting them on and went back inside. They sat in silence for awhile trying to process what had just happened.

"I still can't believe we met Bishamonten!" Asura squealed half admiringly.

"I still can't believe we are both Paladins!"

"Yea...OK getting back on track, so what should be our first act?"

"We have to find a way out the city's walls"

"How? You know we can't sneak out, it's too well guarded!"

"Leave it to me, have some faith in your big brother"

"Good morning gentlemen!" It was the next day, Ijiro and Asura stood awkwardly at the gates of Okirai, it was a sunny day, the guards were tired and bored and the last thing they wanted to deal with were children wearing costumes.

"Please state your business or leave at once" one of the guards replied in the sleezy tone.

"We have been chosen by Bishamonten to become Paladins and we demand a passage to leave Okirai at once!"

The guards exchanged looks and just laughed.

"You? Two? Paladins! HAHAHAHAHA, that's the funniest thing I've heard all morning!"

Ijiro realized the situation they were in, it was true. No way was anyone going to believe he was chosen to be the Paladin. Furthermore it was going to be harder to persuade them it for the both of them.Suddenly Asura spoke up,

"How about a passive duel, if we win you let us pass, if we lose we'll give you our gear"

A passive duel was when you set your HearthGear's processor to -10, it would mean you would be able to fight as normal but you would be too weak to deal any possible amounts of damage to the opposition. It is usually used so that two parties can practice with each other without the possibility of getting hurt. Normally they would have to approach the king when someone comes claiming to be the Paladin. But it did seem awfully persuasive to the guards, their armour did look expensive, furthermore it was 5 of them against 2 scrawny looking kids, how hard could that be?

"Very well since it's 5 of us and 2 of you, we shan't use our weapons, only our fists. Please set your processor to -10 and we shall begin."

Ijiro and Asura set it as asked, they both took their positions, the guards taking theirs at the opposite of them. A crowd was starting to form, it wasn't everyday that 2 kids claimed to be the Paladin fought the king's royal guards. They were positioned at each end of a road, at as a 6th guard blew a whistle it signified the start of the battle. Asura immediately jumped onto the roof of a stall, perched on it skillfully with full balance, Ijiro on the other hand knew there was no point charging in, there was no way he could take on 5 guards at once, as the guards charged forward they exchanged glances. They had live 13 years together and almost never parted and as a result would be able to predict each others movements. Ijiro charged in, but not at the 5 guards, he charged at a wall next to them, focusing the Flux on his feet, he leaped in the air doing a somersault and as his feet landed on the vertical surface, he started doing a wallrun.

The guards took a second to stare in awe, no human had been able to control the Flux, returning to reality, they swung their fists. All 5 of them tried to reach Ijiro but he was too high for them, they were like babies attempting to reach candy too high from them. Their mistake was to  tear their focus away from Asura, she loaded her bow and shot arrows consequently one after another with at most a millisecond gap. 3 arrows hit the back of three guard's heads, it didn't injure them but it signified their deaths, they were no longer allowed to continue. The remaining two turned to find the direction of the archer making their second mistake, tearing their focus from Ijiro.

Ijiro tore away from the wall landing gracefully behind the unaware guards, they turned around only to come face to face with Ijiro whom already started swinging his swords, they knew it was too late. Swinging their fists in an act of desperation, Ijiro dodged it easily and thrusted the sword upwards, it stuck a guard right in the guts and although it didn't tear through the armour, hurt like crazy. The second guard ran towards Ijiro dodging arrows shot by Asura taking the opportunity opened when Ijiro trying to regain his stance, what he didn't know was that Asura was purposely missing her shots, she could easily hit him but decided to give his brother a chance, he was sure to whine if he didn't at least 2 of the guards. The dodges made by the guards forced him to go a bit more left, behind Ijiro, assuming he was able to flank Ijiro it only gave Ijiro more space too swing, caught by surprise, Ijiro regained his stance faster than the guard had expected, he swung the sword with increased velocity due to the space made when the guard was forced behind him. He spun a 360 hitting the guard right at his right thigh.

It hurt a lot, the guard cried in pain as the battle ended, the crowd around them cheered, Ijiro and Asura had not expected a victory but heeding the goddess's advice, they had worked together and sure enough managed to overpower the guards. And true enough they won with ease. Once all the guards regained their sense of reality, they hung their heads in shame.

"You two are truly the Paladins! Your control of the Flux it's just unbelievable! Please call me Soga, Soga Hidetora and your service" And once the rest introduced their names Ijiro requested for the gates to be opened.

"Please before you leave, please do give us your names, I'm sure the king would be delighted to see you" one of the guards, possibly the captain asked.

"I'm Ijiro and she's Asura, tell the king, we'll be sure to meet him"

"And how should we contact you?"

"Who knows?" and with that Ijiro turned away strolling out the gates, Asura trailing from behind him. Secretly inside he was bursting with proudness and could not hold it in any longer, once they were out of sight his entire cool image burned away.

"DID YOU SEE THAT? DID-YOU-SEE-THAT?! I WAS ALL WHOOOSH AND POWWWW!"

Asura only kept her mouth shut, there was no point interfering with her brother's victory celebration furthermore she had bigger things to worry about, like where the hell are they going to go now?
